Tips and Tricks for Using VCS Vehicle Communication Scanner Interface Safely and Effectively

Place your device close to the vehicle's audio system to maximize signal strength. Make sure your device is fully charged as low battery level might impact the connection. Your phonebook didn't automatically download? Each paired phone can have its own dedicated phonebook. Use the instruction below to manually add it, depending on your phone and its available compatibility features. Phones that Support Phonebook Access. Press the "Setting" button. Select "Phone". Select "Download Handset Phonebook". Phones that Do Not Support Phonebook Access. Up to 40 entries can be added to the vehicle phonebook by: Entering contacts downloaded from the handset or Using the Keypad or Call History. On your vehicle, do the following first: Press the "Phone" button. Select "Vehicle Phonebook". Select "Add New". Then add contacts via one of the following ways: Bluetooth. Select "Copy from the Handset". Select "Voicetag" to record a name for the Voice Recognition system. Select "Store". Say the name of the contact after the tone. Select "OK" to save the entry. Keypad. You can be notified of the success or failure of remote commands if you have downloaded the NissanConnect Services app and have enabled push notifications. You will also be shown the status of the command within the mobile app. If you have not started your vehicle's engine in the last 14 days, you will need to start your engine with the Nissan Intelligent key before your vehicle will initiate Remote Engine Start/Stop commands.


Destination Download is accessed from the NissanConnect Services app or MyNISSAN Owner Portal. You can search for various Points of Interest and access them directly in your vehicle. Once sent, you will need to sync your navigation system through the NissanConnect Services Menu to download your destination.


NissanConnect Services uses a telematics control unit that is embedded in the vehicle, connecting to a compatible cellular network to access the suite of services. The Services work using wireless communication networks and the Global Positioning System ("GPS") satellite network. Not all NissanConnect Services are available everywhere, particularly in remote or enclosed areas. The area in which you are driving may affect the service that can be provided, including but not limited to routing and GPS services such as our ability to determine your Vehicle's precise location.


On September 29, 2015, we rebranded CARWINGS to NissanConnect EV. NissanConnect EV replaced the CARWINGS name not only on the smartphone app, but on all communications regarding LEAF telematics. However, for LEAF models 11-15, the telematics icon on the vehicles navigation screen will not change. It will continue to read "CARWINGS".


On September 29, 2015, we rebranded CARWINGS to NissanConnect EV. NissanConnect EV replaced the CARWINGS name not only on the smartphone app, but on all communications regarding LEAF telematics. However, for the 2016 LEAF, the telematics icon on the vehicles navigation screen will read NissanConnect Services. Your LEAF is equipped with NissanConnect EV features, which are unique from the NissanConnect Services program.


The system is set to download automatically. You can change this setting by doing the following: 1. Go to your vehicle and press the zero emission button (lower right side next to navi screen). 2. Touch "NissanConnect Services." 3. Touch "NissanConnect Services Settings." 4. Touch "Information Feed Setting." 5. Touch "Download Automatically." 6. Touch "Select Download Interval"


The system is set to download automatically. You can change this setting by: 1. Go to the vehicle and Touch [Info]. 2. Touch [NissanConnect EV & Services]. 3. Touch [NissanConnect EV/Svcs. Settings]. 4. Touch [Information Feed Setting]. 5. Touch [Download Automatically]. 6. Select your preferred download interval (Never, Power On, Every 30min, Every 60min Every 120min).
